Zane Cerpina is a multicultural and interdisciplinary female curator, producer, author, and artist, working with the complexity of socio-political and environmental issues in contemporary society and in the age of the Anthropocene. Cerpina earned her master’s degree in design from AHO – The Oslo School of Architecture and Design and a bachelor’s degree in Art and Technology from Aalborg University. She resides in Oslo and works as an artistic director/main curator at TEKS (Trondheim Electronic Arts Centre). She is also a co-founder and editor of EE: Experimental Emerging Art Journal. From 2015 to 2019, Cerpina was a creative manager and editor at PNEK (Production Network for Electronic Art, Norway).
Her long-term research project explores innovative and creative approaches to future food crises from technological, social, and cultural perspectives. The project culminated in a book, "The Anthropocene Cookbook: Recipes and Opportunities for Future Catastrophes," co-written with Stahl Stenslie and published by the MIT Press (2022).
Cerpina is internationally active as a lecturer and presenter. She has participated in various academic conferences and introduced her work internationally at numerous venues, including ISEA - International Symposium of Electronic Arts (Vancouver 2015, Hong Kong 2016, Manizales 2017, Seoul 2019, Barcelona 2022, Brisbane 2024), V2_ (the Netherlands, 2016, 2024), STRAND (Serbia, 2016) Extravagant Bodies by Kontejner (Croatia, 2019), LABVERDE (Brazil, 2017), The Stockholm Design Week (Sweden, 2019), and the Opening Conference of the Oslo School of Environmental Humanities (Norway, 2019), among others in the UK, Lithuania, Latvia, and Norway.
Her extensive body of work includes curating and producing the FAEN (Female Artistic Experiments Norway) project series, The Dangerous Futures Conference (2018), Oslo Flaneur Festival (2016), The Anthropocene Kitchen event series (2016-), as well as the Meta.Morf Biennale 2022: Ecophilia and Meta.Morf Biennale 2024: [up]Loaded Bodies. Cerpina has initiated and contributed to several important archival and research projects, such as The Norwegian Media Art Library, and is one of the editors for the Book of Electronic Arts Norway. She has also worked on the editorial team at The Journal of Somaesthetics (2014-2017) and has written for Neural Magazine.
